22.07.2016 Slayer Is Getting Its Own Comic Book: Check Out the Two Gruesome Covers |
|
Slayer is currently out in San Diego performing and signing autographs at Comic-Con -- a fitting way to hype the latest project they’ve got in store.
The metal legends and their label Nuclear Blast are teaming for a Slayer-inspired comic book series premiering later this year via Dark Horse Comics. Rolling Stone broke the news, along with a little teaser -- the two covers (a main one and an alternate) set to adorn the first issue in what’s planned as a three-book series.
Below, check out the two cover looks for Slayer: Repentless, Vol. 1, designed by Glenn Fabry and Eric Powell. Fabry did the main one, featuring a bloody-faced character from the story and Powell designed the alternate, a grizzly take on the classic Slayer logo.
The books are being written by Jon Schnepp. He’s taken inspiration from the band’s videos for "Repentless" and "You Against You,” but it seems Slayer itself won’t be a focal point. Instead, their lyrics and overall aesthetic are driving the storyline. Schnepp likens it to “a road movie of horror” that “goes across many states” and says he’s been driven by “news items that are tearing up our country right now.”
The interior art is being done by Guiu Vilanova.
