Berge, Bjorn

Hailing from the land of Hardanger fiddles and fjords, the mountainous profile of Bjorn Berge and his 12-string guitar cuts an odd figure in Norway. Sporting swirling tattoos on his massive arms, a pirate-like goatee and two gold earrings, the bluesman wields his guitar with impressive dexterity…and diversity. Born in 1968, Berge is an unremitting one-man-show, ceaselessly touring and recording. Norway has dubbed him “Mr. Stringman” and rewarded him with several "Spelemannsprisen", the Norwegian Grammy.

Bjorn Berge, Norway's best selling blues artist, started to play guitar when he was 13 years old. After playing for some years, Bjorn discovered Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Leo Kottke and John Hammond. Bjorn Berge, as we know him today, was born.

Bjorn Berge's got a voice like gravel and broken glass, and sings as if the devil himself is snapping at his heels.
