| 2010-09-06 | Eminem "done" with Carey | Rapper Eminem has vowed to stop taking aim at his rumoured ex-girlfriend Mariah Carey in his songs following their public bust-up last year, insisting he's "done" with the topic.
The Not Afraid hitmaker waged a war of words against Carey and her husband Nick Cannon after the R&B beauty disputed his claims that they'd previously been romantically involved.
He hit out at the couple in tunes like Bagpipes from Baghdad and The Warning, in which he threatened to release voicemail messages he alleged Carey had left for him during their brief fling, while the singer retaliated by mimicking Eminem in the video for her single Obsessed and dubbing him "delusional" in the track's lyrics.
Eminem mentions Carey in passing once more on "Cold Wind Blows" from his latest album Recovery, but he insists that will be the last he ever raps about the voluptuous star.
He tells Vibe magazine, "I really don't want to talk about her anymore only just because it's kind of like the last thing I said about her was on Cold Wind Blows. I made the comment. I don't want to keep beating a dead horse. I'm not even going to comment about it. I'm done with that whole situation. I said what I had to say. I'm done."

| 2010-08-04 | Lady Gaga receives record VMA nods | Lady GaGa is set to dominate the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) - the pop star has landed a record-breaking 13 nominations.
The "Poker Face" hitmaker haul marks the most ever VMA nominations scored by one artist in a single year.
Gaga has received nods in a string of different categories including Best Pop Video, Best Dance Music Video, Best Female Video, Best Choreography and Best Collaboration.
The delighted singer says, "I'm so honoured for all the little monsters (fans) and self-professed freaks of the universe to have more VMA nominations in a single year than any artist in MTV history. Ironically, I'm even more proud it's an unlucky number - 13.
"A long time ago the world told me and my little monsters we would never be heard, together we changed the rules. God put me on Earth for three reasons: To make loud music, gay videos and cause a damn raucous (sic). Thank you, MTV!"
Gaga will compete against herself in for Best Pop Video, Best Female Video and the Video of the Year - her Video Phone collaboration with Beyonce will go head-to-head with Bad Romance in all three categories.
"Tik Tok" by Ke$ha, "California Gurls" by Katy Perry and Taylor Swift's "Fifteen" will also compete for the Best Female Video award, while "California Gurls", "Tik Tok" and "Nothin' On You" by B.O.B. featuring Bruno Mars will also fight for the Best Pop Video honour.
Rap superstar Eminem, who landed eight nominations, will challenge Gaga for the coveted Video of the Year title with his single "Not Afraid", while the song will also battle for Best Male Video and Best Hip-Hop Video. Drake's star-studded "Forever", which features Eminem alongside Kanye West and Lil Wayne, is also a contender for Best Hip-Hop Video.
Meanwhile, Ke$ha's hit track has also scored the pop star a nod for the Best New Artist prize, going up against Justin Bieber ("Baby"), Jason Derulo ("In My Head"), Nicki Minaj ("Massive Attack") and Broken Bells ("The Ghost Inside").

Eminem will play at a music festival in Scotland this weekend, despite reports the rapper's planning to cancel his slot.
"The Stan" hitmaker is slated to perform at T in the Park in Balado, Scotland on Saturday alongside big names including Jay-Z and Muse.
Reports are suggesting Eminem won't turn up to perform the headlining gig, but festival organiser Geoff Ellis has slammed the rumours, insisting "everything is fine".
He tells Scotland's Daily Record, "I'm talking to Eminem's people and we are sorting out the details for the TV coverage. Everything is fine. Eminem is definitely going ahead and highlights from his show will be seen in the TV coverage.
"With some of the American artists, things take a little longer to sort out because of the time difference. Having Eminem playing his exclusive festival date is perfect for us. T in the Park will be the best yet."

Eminem claims his aggressive lyrics about an alleged fling with Mariah Carey have been misunderstood by her husband, Nick Cannon.
"Bagpipes From Baghdad", a track from Em's new album Relapse, includes the lines: "Nick Cannon better back the f*** up/I'm not playing, I want her back, you punk/Nick Cannon, you pr***, I wish you luck with that f***in' whore."
Cannon responded with an angry blog earlier this month, writing: "This act of racist bigotry cannot go unnoticed. Calling my wife a 'c***' and a 'whore'... Trust, repercussions will be served."
But Eminem has defended his wordplay in an interview with Tim Westwood on BBC Radio 1, claiming: "It's a harsh line. But it's like this, the way I look at it, I had no idea he was gonna take it like he took it.
"I heard about some of the things he was saying. I didn't read his blog or anything. But it is what it is. He's supposed to defend his wife, and I expected him to do that."
He continued: "What I actually meant to say is, I wish them the best. That's what I meant to say. That's the whole message of the record."

50 Cent has nearly finished the new record and is just waiting on Eminem to lay down his vocals on the last track.
When asked how close the album is to finishing Fiddy told MTV: "We gotta work with Em, that's it.
"We probably won't get his vocals until he's heard the full body of work and he's excited about it."
Once Eminem has given the record the green light Fiddy will share the album with the rest of us.
He explains: "Before my work (goes to the public), it had to pass the Eminem test."

MTV reports the Real Slim Shady rapper told host Angie Martinez: "I'm always working, I'm always in the studio. It feels good right now, the energy of the label."

The duo won best group, best video and best song (for Hey Ya!) at the ceremony in Rome. They had been nominated in five categories.
Usher won best male and best album for Confessions, while Britney Spears beat Alicia Keys, Anastasia, Avril Lavigne and Beyonce to the title of best female.
She sent a message of thanks on video saying the award "means so much to me", reports BBC News online.
The Black Eyed Peas took the award for best pop act, beating Anastacia, Avril Lavigne, Robbie Williams and Britney Spears.
UK rockers Muse were named best alternative act and best British artists, while Linkin Park were named best rock band.
Eminem's group D12 were surprise winners in the best hip-hop category, beating the Beastie Boys, Jay-Z, Kanye West and Nelly.
Eminem told the crowd: "D12 finally won an award, thank you very much."
The rapper had been joined on stage by a crowd of children as he opened the show with a performance of Mosh and Just Lose It.
He had a bust-up with producers over his plans to do a Michael Jackson parody, claims The Sun.
The rapper had been due to come on stage dressed as Jacko in a wig and false nose, but was ordered to change the skit. He threatend to walk out but ended up going ahead with the rest of his act.
The ceremony also featured a couple of duets - Usher teamed up with Alicia Keys, while Nelly joined Pharrell Williams.
The most dramatic performances came from the Beastie Boys, who entered the stage on bicycles and skateboards, and No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani, who was lowered on to the stage on a giant clock.

Eminem said: "In school, when they have plays and field trips, I don't miss them. Even if I've got to deal with craziness. Last year I went and read to the class. Two books. It was reading month or something."
Meanwhile, Eminem plans to dress as Michael Jackson when he performs at this months MTV Europe Music Awards.
According to reports, the 32-year-old wants to recreate his Just Lose It video live on stage, even though he has already upset the singer.
An insider said: "Eminem wants to deliver a show-stopping performance for MTV and is thinking up ways to cause a stir. Top of the list at the moment is doing a stage version of the video.

A studio source said, "He was singing Mosh and you could tell he was lip-synching.
"The track was just a bit ahead of his lips and he put the mike down at one point but the track kept going."
But a representative for Eminem insists he was trying to "duplicate the sound on his album."
He said: "He had a vocal track on for double vocal effect on the first song, to make it more powerful. Lots of hip-hop artists do that. Tupac Shakur did it."

Devil's Night, named after their debut album, is a horror movie while Runyon Cash is named after a street that members of the Detroit group grew up on.

Max Gousse and Jeremy Geffen, who together manage D12, are producing the movies.
Along with shooting the movies, D12's members will spend the rest of the summer working on other music projects.

The corporation has also criticised its own DJs Sara Cox and Colin Murray.

He's said to be playing the part of undefeated 22-year-old Ukranian-born Jewish boxing phenomenon Dmitry Salita.
The rapper has reportedly recruited Lennox Lewis' old trainer Emanuel Steward to prepare him for the role, reports XFM.co.uk.
Steward said: "I put him through his paces and I was amazed that he was as good as he was. Since then, he's trained regularly and I've put him in the ring with some top-notch sparring partners.
"He's improved enormously. He's aggressive, a real slugger. He moves a lot like Muhammad Ali."

It's rumoured that the movie, which may be called Golden Boy, will be made by legendary producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

Kim Mathers, who divorced the 31-year-old rapper in 2001 after two years of marriage, was pulled over last June by police who found 25g of the drug in her car.
Mathers, 28, has been sentenced to two years probation and ordered to pay court costs.
The judge in Detroit also ordered her to take regular tests to ensure she stays drug and alcohol free.

The programme, based around a variety of prank phone calls, returns to the Comedy Central network for a third series later this year, with the rapper due to guest star as the voice of an as-yet-unnamed character.
According to MTV, Eminem - a huge fan of the show - asked his manager to approach programme creators Jimmy Kimmel, Adam Carollo and Daniel Kellison about a possible appearance on the show.
Em is said to have recorded a number of calls already, though details about the sketched and their broadcast dates are being kept under wraps. A spokesperson for the rapper was unavailable for comment.
The first episode of "Crank Yankers" featured puppet versions of the Wu-Tang Clan performing "In Da Hood".

| 2003-07-30 | Eminem not playn' | Eminem is facing yet more legal action, this time from a video gaming company who claim he is guilty of fraud and breach of contract.
The lawsuit from Los Angeles company, Conspiracy Entertainment, claims the rapper was contracted to lend his name and character to a videogame and seeks $5 million in damages and lost revenue.
They claim that he pulled out of the deal as his profile grew and he saw an opportunity to negotiate a better deal with another company.
Conspiracy Entertainment claim to have brokered the deal through Eminem's agents, Cousin Entertainment and Bravado International.
"We were not aware of any problems until we started getting some press on our new product," Conspiracy CEO Keith Tanaka said.
"Then we started hearing rumours about Eminem negotiating a better deal with Rockstar Games or some other big video game publisher.
"Apparently, our deal must have been in the way because there was no other reason for Bravado and Cousins to stop us from introducing a video game that was approved before the contract ever got signed."

Cypress Hill rapper B-Real also appears on the track, having been persuaded by Em to participate.
Boo Yaa MC The Godfather said of Eminem: "It's all about mutual respect - He sees the struggle we go through and he wants to give back.
"A lot of people want to pay him big money to do this, but he feels us. His whole concept is that he only wants to f*ck with real people."
He added: "If people can look past Eminem being white and appreciate his music, then they can look past Boo Yaa T.R.I.B.E. being Samoan gangstas and enjoy our music.
"All we want is for the world to understand our pain. It isn't about gangs or any of that."
The Godfather explained: "Our thing is we don't have no beef with nobody, so I wanted to bring it together... I got Death Row, I got Aftermath, all on one album."
