2010-01-27 | Lacrimas Profundere: New Album Title Announced |
German gothic rockers Lacrimas Profundere have set "The Grandiose Nowhere" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in April via Napalm Records. The five-piece once again worked with producer John Fryer (HIM, Nine Inch Nails), who previously handled the production on the band's last two albums. Source: DarkSide.ru |
2009-12-10 | Marilyn Manson Splits With Interscope | Marilyn Manson has parted ways with longtime record label Interscope following the disappointing sales performance of the shock-rocker's latest album, entitled "The High End Of Low". "We've just been released from our record contract with Interscope so I think a lot of the creative control on which my hands were tied on a lot of choices — the music videos — things like that," Manson told U.K.'s Metal Hammer magazine. "And the first example is the newest video, they clearly wouldn't have allowed me to make that video. So we started writing new songs on the road — a bit like [David Bowie's album] 'Aladdin Sane' — I think people can expect a new record a lot sooner than we [expected].
When told that he doesn't seem like someone who wouldn't put his foot down with a label, Manson said, "You'd be surprised how much restraint my creativity had which ended up often times in my life, not want to make music because I was so restrained from the music that I wanted to make — what they would allow, they would put out, what ideas they would allow to be conveyed in these videos. At least half of my creative output has been squashed, so now I think people can expect a whole lot more."
Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails signed Marilyn Manson to his label Nothing Records, a vanity label of Interscope, in 1993. Nothing Records became defunct in 2004, and Marilyn Manson remained signed solely to Interscope.
"The High End Of Low" sold 49,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 4 on The Billboard 200 chart. Marilyn Manson's previous album, "Eat Me, Drink Me", opened with 88,000 units to land at No. 8. This marked a significant drop from the 118,000 first-week tally registered by its predecessor, "The Golden Age Of Grotesque", which entered the chart at No. 1 back in May 2003.

2008-03-14 | Nine Inch Nails hammer Radiohead | Nine Inch Nails have slated the digital release of Radiohead's "In Rainbows".
Despite NIN following Thom Yorke and co's footsteps by releasing their new album "Ghosts" digitally, frontman Trent Reznor has attacked the Oxford band's download as "low quality".
"What they did was a cool thing... But if you look at what they did, though, it was very much a bait and switch to get you to pay for a MySpace-quality stream as a way to promote a very traditional record sale."
He added: "By making it such a low quality thing, not even including artwork ... to me that feels insincere... but I don't see that as a big revolution (that) they're kinda getting credit for." Source: Ananova |
2006-09-11 | Ex-SKID ROW Drummer PHIL VARONE To Perform With CODY MARKS In Hollywood | Former Skid Row/SAIGON KICK drummer Phil Varone will be sitting behind the kit for up-and-coming female singer CODY MARKS (MySpace profile) at her September 15, 2006 appearance at The Roxy in West Hollywood, California.
"I have blown the dust off my drumsticks and oiled up my limbs," Varone said in an online posting. "Remember, I'm delicate, but still amazing. This should be lot of fun. I recorded three songs for Cody's new record, and I can't wait to get on that stage behind the drums."
In a recent interview with Glam-Metal.com, Varone had the following to say about Cody Marks:
"I just did a record for an artist named Cody Marks who is a new artist over here, and she's fucking great. She's a good friend of mine and she called me and said 'Hey, I've gotta do some song's for my new record, would you wanna come in and do it?' I haven't played drums in a long time, and I said, 'Yeah, that would be cool.' We did it at this place called The Village, and like 'Rumours' was recorded there, and Nine Inch Nails, and all these great bands recorded there, so that was cool, and I had a blast! So anyways, I'm actually gonna be doing a live show with her on the 15th of September I believe. I don't wanna be a band member, or a rock star, I just wanna be a drummer. That's why I was able to do this with her, just be a drummer, have some fun and just play." Source: BlabberMouth |
2004-07-14 | Grohl 'drumming for Nine Inch Nails' | Former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl has reportedly joined Nine Inch Nails.
The NME says Californian band The Exies have posted a report about Grohl performing live with Trent Reznor's group on their website.
It also claims Grohl has been seen with the band on their own studio webcam.
Since Nirvana, Grohl has played for the Foo Fighters, Queens Of The Stone Age, Garbage and Killing Joke. Source: Ananova |
