Birmingham band Editors reckon that Radiohead should have let fans listen to their new album before deciding how much to pay for it.
Thom Yorke and co. famously shook up the music industry on October 10 by making their seventh album In Rainbows available for download at a cost the customer chooses - a misjudged decision, in the opinion of Editors' Russell Leetch.
After admitting that he hadn't downloaded the record, Leetch said: "I think if Radiohead wanted to be really clever then they should let people listen to it first then decide what to pay."
Clearly sceptical about the shift in the way music is sold, the bassist voiced his concerns that it was only established artists that were able to give albums away for free.
He said: "I worry for new acts and where that leaves them when they need financial help and support from a record label."
Resisting the digital age, Russell also dismissed the suggestion that the days of the CD are over.
"I still like buying things on vinyl and CD as a collector. I don't quite trust bitrates and hard drives," he said.
