2010-07-16 | Grave Digger: New Album Details Revealed | German power metallers Grave Digger have set "The Clans Will Rise Again" as the title of their new album, due in Europe on October 1 via Napalm Records. The CD was recorded between mid-May and mid-July at the Meadow Studios, which is owned by Grave Digger's new guitarist Axel Ritt, and Principal Studios, where all of Grave Digger albums since 1995's "Heart Of Darkness" have been tracked. It was produced by Chris Boltendahl and mixed by Jörg Umbreit.
According to a press release, "Chris Boltendahl, Jens Becker, Stefan Arnold, HP Katzenburg and Axel Ritt offer an explosive mixture of the typical Grave Digger riff metal, combined with awesome epic chorus hooks, which will fascinate the fans from the very first note.
"The Clans Will Rise Again" is a loose sequel of the "Tunes Of War" album, but this time not a concept album about the Scottish history, rather a work about Scotland, its mysticism and its people."
"The Clans Will Rise Again" track listing:
01. Days Of Revenge
02. Paid In Blood
03. Hammer Of The Scots
04. Highland Farewell

08. Execution
09. Whom The Gods Love Die Young

Grave Digger will celebrate its 30th anniversary at this year's edition of the Wacken Open Air festival, set to take place August 5-7, 2010 in Wacken, Germany. The band will perform its seventh and most successful album, "Tunes Of War" (1996), in its entirety at the event and will be accompanied by "illustrious guests," such as the 20-headed BAUL MULUY PIPES & DRUMS BAND from Hamburg, German metal queen Doro Pesch, Blind Guardian lead singer Hansi Kürsch and the metal a capella ensemble Van Canto. There will also be a special elaborate stage set with an extraordinary pyro show.
Wacken Open Air will mark the first and final time Grave Digger will play the entire "Tunes Of War" album live. The band will also perform some of its other "greatest hits," such as "Ballad Of A Hangman", "Heavy Metal Breakdown" and "Excalibur" at the end of its set.

2010-05-27 | Paragon Seeking Guitarist |
Bassist Jan Bünning of German power metalers Paragon has issued the following update:
"We get asked many times these days when we will have a new album out and when we will do shows again. The problem is: We are still looking for a new guitar player but couldn't find the right one so far. We have some shredders who we will check out the next weeks but we are also still looking.
"So if anybody is interested in joining us, please contact us on MySpace or send an email guitar@paragon-metal.com. You should enjoy stuff like Judas Priest, Accept, Mercyful Fate, Overkill and it wold be great if you live in or near Hamburg. We have a deal with Massacre Records, will record our 10th album soon and also will do festivals and other shows next year."
PARAGON's latest album, "Screenslaves", was released in November 2008 via Massacre Records. The CD was produced by Uwe Lullis (ex-Grave Digger, Rebellion) at Black Solaris Studio in Frankfurt.
Bünning quit PARAGON after the recording of 2007's "Forgotten Prophecies" because of "musical differences" but rejoined the band last year. Source: DarkSide.ru |
2010-01-12 | Grave Digger Announces New Guitarist |
German power metallers Grave Digger have issued the following update:
"An eventful year 2009 lies behind us. It started with the release of the 'Ballads Of A Hangman' album together with the successful European tour. Then the split with Thilo Herrmann, [guitar]... Another successful trip to Russia. The festival season in summer with the Rock Harz festival and the Wacken Rocks South. Our first shows in Mexico and then finally Manni Schmidt [guitar], leaving the band, that was a real big shock to us all.
"We had already booked some concerts, before the end of the year and we didn't want to cancel them. So we decided to play the shows with a substitute guitarist.
"An old friend stepped in: Axel Ritt (Domain). So we had the chance to finish the year in a peaceful way with these concerts.
"We are glad to announce Axel as the new guitar player of Grave Digger. His playing and his behaviour on and off stage totally convinced us that he is the right man for the job.
"We are already in the middle of the songwriting for the new album. In May we will enter the Principal Studios again to record the new material."
