Madness ChimesIt was the island, always the islandA Dark history of soil full of rot Glittering beaches and emerald tides Brand new beggining of a new Montserrat There I went, there I went to start it A revolution in the treatment of the mind There I would, there I could be proven right A center for healing and a beacon of light It was such, such auspicious start The gale now picks me up, flings me from the tower A ragdoll that pierces air, pierces like a dart Mere seconds away, seconds full of hours The tower, my tower to look down on the grounds An indulgent smile as my victory unfolds Where armies of crazies and white coats take the sun A medical marvel, a bliss to behold But the isle, cursed rock won't have it Patients and minds take a turn for the worse And the ghosts, they start crawling in me They fill me, they fill me with rage I can, i can see the rocks, speeding towards me To hurt me with their death But I, I cared for all of them, God knows I love them still And I wouldn't change a thing To cure them, to save them, I cut out their pretty brains I stuck them in cells and dressed them in rags I opened them up and chained them to tables If i can't save them I'd rather they die But they wouldn't wouldn't understand me The shackles broke, they pound on my door All that strenght, the madness in the numbers Those bloodshot eyes, the terrible roar So now its time for my flight to touch the ground And for that mist to close its fingers around me My corpse, hollow now, grant them peace before they die Know I as I know, time is sure to prove me right. |
