You Can't Say I Didn't Try

You know that feeling stepping out of a gym
Nothing short of ecstatic
I like to think that if I did a bit more
I too would be good at it

Ooh, we all have a duty to keep ourselves fit
And much as I do what I can with this figure
Every time I look it gets bigger

But you can't say I didn't try
Oh, you can't say I didn't try
Oh, you can't say even if at best
What I'm doing's less
Could it be that less could be more?

You may have noticed if I step out of line
I'm the first to admit it
I'm not impervious to something in pine
If instructions are with it

But when it comes to the real task of asking you out
While I admit that for all my endeavors
You can knock me down with a feather

But you can't say I didn't try
Oh, you can't say I didn't try
Oh, you can't say even if it means
Doing what it is seems
Maybe not be going my way

Messers willing and able have mislaid our plans
As much as I've searched every nook, every cranny
As of yet I haven't found any

But you can't say I didn't try
Oh, you can't say I didn't try
Oh, you can't say even if it means
Doesn't matter if it requires a lift
If a lift is what it takes

See that lady with the world at her knees
She's got eyes in her navel
Spots a bag she's so determined to keep
And with a bank loan she's able

You can't set me a challenge
I should in effect easily manage
But let's say in trying
If I got it right I'd be lying

But you can't say (hey hey) I didn't try
No, you can't say (hey hey) I didn't try
Oh, you can't say
But if all else fails (what do I do)
Be it heads or tails (what do I choose)
With the way the wind blows
(It could be blowing my way)
