Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Dolls) was left red-faced while filming a guest judge role on a THE X FACTOR - after Simon Cowell urged her to call successful contestants "tools".
Prankster Cowell convinced the pop star the word referred to those with excellent singing voices - and asked her to use it to describe wannabes auditioning on the talent show.
An insider tells The Sun, "Simon loved winding Nicole up. Even though she has a British boyfriend she had never heard the phrase before.
"Simon eventually had to step in when she kept using it about people she liked."
Cowell eventually owned up to his joke, confessing the real meaning of the slur to a blushing Scherzinger, who was filling in for new "mum" Dannii Minogue. Source: Ananova

Minogue dismisses record contract rumours
Pregnant pop star Dannii Minogue has dismissed reports she is preparing to re-launch her music career with a new dance album after she gives birth later this year.
The Australian singer-turned-TV talent show judge, who has not released any new music since 2007, was rumoured to have signed a new £1 million deal with executives at dance label Ministry of Sound.
The Sunday Mirror reported Minogue was planning to return to the recording studio and launch a new single by the end of the year - just months after she becomes a first-time mum.
The report also suggested Minogue's chart comeback would be documented in her new reality TV show on ITV2.
But the singer has refuted the rumour, insisting the documentary will focus on the launch of her new fashion line.
In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "Sunday Mirror not quite right. Haven't signed with record label. ITV2 doco (sic) about launching ProjectD fashion range." Source: Ananova

Dannii Minogue dropped by record label
Dannii Minogue has been dropped by her record label after poor sales.
Warner Records have reportedly dropped Kylie's sister after her Neon Nights album failed to set the charts alight.
A label insider told The Sun: "Dannii won't be releasing another record with Warner. She enjoyed some success but just doesn't sell enough records to merit a new deal.
"Dannii is a bit disappointed but has vowed to get a new deal elsewhere. She is writing some new material and hopes a smaller label may snap her up. These are tough times for pop acts and I've a nasty feeling there is more of a clear-out to come."
Dannii joins pop victims Holly Valance and Lisa Scott Lee in being axed.
She has never had a No1 hit but reached No2 with I Begin To Wonder. Her last single Don't Wanna Lose This Feeling got to No 5. Source: Ananova
