2010-06-14 | Spice Girls too busy for comeback |
Melanie Chisholm has dismissed reports the Spice Girls are preparing to regroup for another comeback tour - insisting all five girls are too busy to reunite.
Tabloids claimed last month the Wannabe hitmakers wanted to put on another series of shows, following their sold-out world trek in 2007 and 2008, which marked the first time the original line-up had performed together since Geri Halliwell quit to go solo in 1998.
The girl group was said to be eager to get back onstage, but Victoria Beckham was reportedly refusing to join them for the concerts.
Now, Chisholm has cleared up the speculation - claiming none of the original five-piece have time to stage any more shows.
She tells the Daily Star newspaper, "There's no chance of that happening. Don't believe what you've read elsewhere, because we have no plans to tour again.
"We all have our own projects going on and have families too so we couldn't find the time even if we wanted to." Source: Ananova |
2008-02-29 | "Sporty Spice" has time for new LP | Straight off the back of the end of the Spice Girls world tour, Melanie C has announced details of her fourth solo album..
This Time will be released on April 8 through "Red Girl", a label set up by Mel herself after she was dropped by Virgin Records way back in 2003.
Speaking about "Red Girl", Mel told Billboard: "Having experience with a major label, it was nice to be able to do the exact opposite and own the copyright to my songs.
"I was very fortunate with the Spice Girls; financially, I was able to set up my own label and finance my own record."
After some initial success, Chisholm's solo career has since floundered, with her second and third albums, Reason and Beautiful Intentions, flopping on both sides of the Atlantic. Source: Ananova |

2007-10-29 | Mel C talks new single | Melanie C has corrected the media over new single Headlines.
The song was heavily criticised after its first airplay when it was noted Victoria Beckham only has four lines throughout the whole track.
However, whilst talking on The Graham Norton Show, Mel said: "We all sing the chorus, we all have an equal part in the song.
"It's a very 'Spicey' ballard, it's lovely to hear all our voices again, I love doing that kind of stuff."

2007-10-23 | Mel C's reluctant yes | Melanie C says she only agreed to the Spice Girls reunion tour because she didn't want to be "the villan" and disappoint their fans.
Mel C, aka "Sporty Spice", was often mooted as the main stumbling block for a reunion of the '90s group, and has now admitted that it was touch and go as to whether she'd join the comeback.
She tells magazine Closer: "They basically said if I wanted to do it great, but if I didn't want to do it then they were going to do it anyway.
"I'd always said I'd never do it. But I didn't want to miss out and have regrets. I also didn't want to be that person that stopped it being a complete five.
"I was scared I'd be the villain. It was hard, so I didn't say yes immediately. I changed my mind every day", she adds.
Thankfully, Mel did make the decision to cash in on past glories, and the Girls are busy preparing for their December World Tour.

2005-01-24 | Mel C confirms album details | Melanie C has confirmed the title of her third solo album, Beautiful Intentions,
The album, the first to be released on the former Spice Girl's own Red Girl Records label which she set up after being dropped by EMI at the beginning of 2004, will be released on April 11 and preceded by a single titled Next Best Superstar on April 4.
Details of tracks on the album have not yet been released.
Mel C is expected to play a series of UK shows to promote the album.
As already confirmed she will perform an acoustic set at the Tsunami fund-raising concert at the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on Friday, February 11.
Beautiful Intentions is the follow-up to 2003's Reason album.

2004-06-17 | Mel C is not 'bad sport' | Melanie C has denied she's being a "bad sport" by refusing to reunite with the rest of the Spice Girls for a tour.
In a message on her website, she refuted stories that she was refusing to co-operate with plans by the rest of the group and their former manager Simon Fuller for a reunion tour.
She wrote: "It's really annoying to keep reading all these lies."
The former Spice Girl says she's never even been approached about a tour, adding: "I am completely unaware of any of the other girls' desire to get back together."
Melanie, who this week has been touring Barfly venues in a low-key UK tour, said: "I am so excited about my new album. The tour is proving to be a huge success and is completely sold out.
"I chose to play these small venues and did not advertise these shows as I am not promoting anything. They are for fun, for you guys and to try out new songs before I start recording."
Melanie plans to issue her as-yet-untitled third solo album on her own Red Girl Records. Earlier this year she was dropped by Virgin Records who released her previous two albums, Northern Star and Reason. Source: Ananova |
2004-06-15 | Spice Girls drop greatest hits album for now | The Spice Girls have dropped plans to release a greatest hits album after a series of rows between them.
The Sun says the five have pulled the release date because Mel C didn't want to be part of a concert promoting the CD.
And bosses at Virgin Records refused to spend millions of pounds plugging the disc unless all five agreed to sing at the one-off gig.
The paper says Melanie B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham were keen to go ahead with the show. But apparently Melanie C still believes she can find solo success, says the paper.
A source said: "Mel refuses to join the girls on stage because she still dreams of making it big by herself.
But she's on her smallest tour ever - and that's struggling.
"She told the others she was happy to do TV interviews to plug the album but that was it. The money men at Virgin said a big concert was the only way to guarantee massive publicity, so they pulled plans for a release in the first week of November.
The source added: "They have agreed to release the greatest hits in 2006. It's billed as ten years of the Spice Girls since they released their first single Wannabe in 1996.
"The girls reckon Mel will be back with her tail between her legs by then. Her solo career will be a distant memory so she'll have no choice but to jump on the bandwagon." Source: Ananova |
