2010-07-26Bunton refutes Spice Girls movie claims
Former Spice Girls star Emma Bunton has dismissed reports the group is reuniting for a sequel to their Spice World movie, insisting her comments about an upcoming project were taken out of context. According to tabloid reports last week, the artist formerly known as Baby Spice appeared to be promoting a new film musical based on her girl group's hits, but she has taken to Twitter.com to set the record straight. She insists there is no movie musical planned, and she was talking about the group's stage musical with Mamma Mia! producer Judy Craymer. Bunton writes, "Guys I'm sorry but I DID NOT mention that we would be doing another film!. But we r very excited about r musical in the theatre (sic)!"

2010-06-01Spice Girls preparing for second comeback?
Spice Girls are hoping to regroup for another comeback tour - but the bandmembers are struggling to convince Victoria Beckham to return, according to a report. The Wannabe hitmakers thrilled fans when they returned for a sold-out world trek in 2007 and 2008 - the first time the original line-up had performed together since Geri Halliwell quit to go solo in 1998. Following the jaunt, Beckham vowed to hang up her microphone for good to concentrate on her fashion ventures. The girl group is now reportedly eager to get back on stage - but singers Halliwell, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm are struggling to persuade Beckham to join them, according to the Daily Mirror. A source tells the publication, "The girls are so excited. They are buzzing about getting back together and each have so many new ideas and so much to bring to the table. "They are desperate to get Posh (Beckham) on board, but that is the sticking point. "Although she's still so nostalgic about the good old days, she has moved on now and is relishing the fashion world. They don't want to give up on her, but have so many plans. "The way things are going they might have to go on without her if she doesn't come round soon."

2009-08-05Posh Scales New Heights For Photo Shoot
The latest photograph from Victoria Beckham's lucrative underwear campaign with Armani has been released. The former Spice Girl is seen provocatively climbing a ladder wearing just her Emporio Armani lingerie and a pair of high heels. Her hair is fixed in a gravity-defying, geisha-inspired style. The shoot was photographed in Milan by renowned fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott. Posh, along with her husband David, have posed for a series of raunchy photographs for Emporio Armani. The couple have a multi-million pound advertising deal with the Italian fashion house. Last year David signed a £20m deal to become the firm's new global ambassador, while his wife has her own £12m deal to represent Armani underwear. The latest adverts will appear in fashion magazines and on signature billboards from September. They will be shown in most major cities, including New York, Los Angeles, London, Milan, Rome, Paris and Tokyo.

2008-05-13Alphabeat turned down Spice Girls
Alphabeat turned down supporting the Spice Girls world tour because they didn't want people to think they're like the reformed '90s group. After moving to the UK in September the Danish pop band wanted the British audience to be introduced to them on their own terms. Talking to Orange, singer Stine Bramsen said: "We said no thank you to supporting the Spice Girls and we did that because we're pretty new for people here." She explains: "For the UK we just wanted to make sure people got who we are from the beginning. We're not like the Spice Girls. We are a pop band, yeah. But we are a band who write our own songs and play them live." Turning down the Spice Girls meant turning down a chance to play at Wembley Stadium, but that's how they prefer it. Stine said: "It's just important for us to do our own tour and do it in small steps like we've done all the years we've been together."

2008-02-29"Sporty Spice" has time for new LP
Straight off the back of the end of the Spice Girls world tour, Melanie C has announced details of her fourth solo album.. This Time will be released on April 8 through "Red Girl", a label set up by Mel herself after she was dropped by Virgin Records way back in 2003. Speaking about "Red Girl", Mel told Billboard: "Having experience with a major label, it was nice to be able to do the exact opposite and own the copyright to my songs. "I was very fortunate with the Spice Girls; financially, I was able to set up my own label and finance my own record." After some initial success, Chisholm's solo career has since floundered, with her second and third albums, Reason and Beautiful Intentions, flopping on both sides of the Atlantic.

2008-01-24Spice Girls get £50m from London gigs
Comeback queens the Spice Girls are to rake in an estimated £10 million pounds each from their 17 London dates. Although last year's Barbra Streisand's ticket prices at the 02 Arena were far higher than the Wannabe singers and Prince played four more shows, the Girls will earn more cash. A source told the Daily Mirror: "Not many groups can sell out 17 gigs at £75 a ticket, it's quite an achievement." Almost 400,000 people attended the 17 shows, which made £50 million when including merchandising and sponsorship.

2008-01-04Spice Girls to net £10m in Oz
Australian dates on the Spice Girls world tour could make the ladies an extra £10 million. Antipodean fans are evidently lapping up the ladies' comeback as the Wannabe singers recently released Greatest Hits album hit No 1 in the Australian album charts. A source told The Sun: "The girls have a massive fan base in Australia and a huge amount of cash is being thrown at them to get them to perform there." The source explained: "Everyone in OZ has been reading about the show and they want a piece of the action." 12 dates split between Sydney, Perth and Brisbane are being lined up for March.

2007-12-04David's Spice Girl gifts
David Beckham presented the Spice Girls with a diamond encrusted bracelet each to celebrate their reunion tour. The bracelets reportedly cost £50,000 each, says the Daily Mirror. Victoria said: "He knows I'm really nervous about him seeing me back on stage, so he bought us all these bracelets for good luck. It's like the old days. "David spent a lot of time around the girls when we first got together - it's as though he married all of us. He's the original Spice Boy." David has also agreed to photograph the girls backstage. He added: "I've got a few months off from football, so I just said to the girls: 'I've got a camera, do you want me to do it?' They thought it was a great idea. "I'm on the road with them for three months and can't wait."

2007-11-28Mel B comes second
Melanie B has come second in US show Dancing with the Stars. "Scary Spice" lost out as a result of the viewers vote to Brazillian racing driver Helio Castroneves. Mel and her dancing partner, Maksim Chmerkovskiy, got top marks from the judges for their final Mamba dance. According to the BBC she admitted coming second "was a horrible feeling - I'm not going to deny it." Earlier this week she was supported in the audience by her fellow Spice Girls.

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes surprised the Spice Girls when they visited them during rehearsals for their tour. The couple and their daughter Suri attended rehearsals in LA before the group headed to Vancouver for the start of their tour. Tom and Katie are close friends with Victoria and David Beckham. In a posting on the Spice Girls website, Posh said: "It was lovely of them to come down to rehearsals, a really nice surprise. Katie has told me before that she used to be a big Spice fan so it was great for her to meet the other girls."

2007-11-13Spice Girls shop for Xmas
The Spice Girls shop for Christmas presents in their new ad for Tesco. Posh Spice is seen walking around a Tesco store in search of the perfect gift for her fellow band members. She is shocked to discover Baby, Scary, Ginger and Sporty also in the supermarket aisles. 2007-10-24Spice Girls single leaked online
The Spice Girls comeback single has been leaked online. The fivesome recorded new track, Headlines (Friendship Never Ends), to coincide with their greatest hits album and world tour. However, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton has now posted the song onto his website before its official international release. Victoria Beckham only sings four lines in the track and Perez is even dubious of that claim, writing: "Let's play a game. It's called: can you guess which part (if any) Victoria is singing?" Headlines is the first track by the full line up since 1998 and is released on November 19.

2007-10-01Spice Girls hire Bono
The Spice Girls and U2's Bono are set to collaborate on a new song. Looking for a little something extra to add to the upcoming greatest hits album, the old Spices have asked Bono to pen them a new tune. An insider told the Daily Mirror: "It might seem unusual with the Spice Girls' pop roots and the much more rockier work of Bono, but it works. "There's been a bit of unease as to how the album will perform and if there's still a solid Spice Girls' fanbase out there." According to the source, Bono's track has changed all that. They add: "Bono's involvement has lifted the whole camp and he's delighted to have been asked and add his experience."

2004-10-06Robbie sees dead people
Robbie Williams says he used to live in a haunted house. The star has confessed he saw ghosts while living in former Beatles drummer Ringo Starr's Los Angeles house. According to Femalefirst quoting Radio 1 he said: "When I moved out, the removal men wouldn't go in because of the old lady sitting in the chair." He added: "Ringo's son, Zak Starkey, said to me: 'I hear you're in my old place,' because his dad used to own it. And he asked if I'd seen the children in the garden and the old lady. Well, I never saw the kids but, but the old lady certainly kept cropping up." The singer also says after his brush with the paranormal he now wants to launch a new career - as a TV psychic. Robbie, who has been linked with a string of beauties including former Spice Girls - Geri Halliwell and Nip/Tuck star Valerie Cruz, revealed he's obsessed with the supernatural and wants to host his own programme on the subject. He said: "I want to do a whole TV series on paranormal things. I'm really intrigued. "I'm pretty open for it to be real, but I'm also quite open for it to be the power of suggestion too. I just want to find out. I really want to get a TV show, perhaps on Living TV," he said.

2004-06-17Mel C is not 'bad sport'
Melanie C has denied she's being a "bad sport" by refusing to reunite with the rest of the Spice Girls for a tour. In a message on her website, she refuted stories that she was refusing to co-operate with plans by the rest of the group and their former manager Simon Fuller for a reunion tour. She wrote: "It's really annoying to keep reading all these lies." The former Spice Girl says she's never even been approached about a tour, adding: "I am completely unaware of any of the other girls' desire to get back together." Melanie, who this week has been touring Barfly venues in a low-key UK tour, said: "I am so excited about my new album. The tour is proving to be a huge success and is completely sold out. "I chose to play these small venues and did not advertise these shows as I am not promoting anything. They are for fun, for you guys and to try out new songs before I start recording." Melanie plans to issue her as-yet-untitled third solo album on her own Red Girl Records. Earlier this year she was dropped by Virgin Records who released her previous two albums, Northern Star and Reason.

2004-06-15Spice Girls drop greatest hits album for now
The Spice Girls have dropped plans to release a greatest hits album after a series of rows between them. The Sun says the five have pulled the release date because Mel C didn't want to be part of a concert promoting the CD. And bosses at Virgin Records refused to spend millions of pounds plugging the disc unless all five agreed to sing at the one-off gig. The paper says Melanie B, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell and Victoria Beckham were keen to go ahead with the show. But apparently Melanie C still believes she can find solo success, says the paper. A source said: "Mel refuses to join the girls on stage because she still dreams of making it big by herself. But she's on her smallest tour ever - and that's struggling. "She told the others she was happy to do TV interviews to plug the album but that was it. The money men at Virgin said a big concert was the only way to guarantee massive publicity, so they pulled plans for a release in the first week of November. The source added: "They have agreed to release the greatest hits in 2006. It's billed as ten years of the Spice Girls since they released their first single Wannabe in 1996. "The girls reckon Mel will be back with her tail between her legs by then. Her solo career will be a distant memory so she'll have no choice but to jump on the bandwagon."
