2009-08-06 | Nevermore To Enter Studio This Week | Nevermore's Van Williams will record the drums for the band's new album, "The Obsidian Conspiracy", between August 7 and August 14 in the band's hometown of Seattle with producer (and Soilwork guitarist) Peter Wichers (who previously worked with Nevermore vocalist Warrel Dane on Dane's solo debut, "Praises to the War Machine"). The rest of the instruments will be tracked at Wichers' studio in North Carolina. Longtime friend and collaborator Andy Sneap (=vlin href=/vcat.phtml?action=va&singer=295>Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Exodus, Machine Head) will once again be handling mixing duties.
The follow-up to 2005's "This Godless Endeavor" is tentatively due in early 2010 via Century Media Records.
Commented Dane: "These songs are full of newfound rage, lyrically and musically. Jeff Loomis has come up with some amazing new riffs that will no doubt please old and new fans alike. Also, I think the combination of Peter and Andy will result in something very, very special."
Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Emptiness Unobstructed" and "Without Morals".

2008-10-24 | God Forbid: post Merauder cover version online! | As part of “Covering 20 Years Of Extremes”, a special compilation 2CD celebrating Century Media Record’s 20th anniversary,God Forbid has recorded a cover version of the song "Master Killer" originally by legendary NYC Metal/Hardcore crossover band Merauder. Here’s what Doc has to say about the track:
“Merauder was one of the first CM bands we collectively got into. Although we're a metal band, we came up in the hardcore scene, so covering Merauder really honored our roots! They were an under exposed band, so we hope to shed light to those who don't know and pay respects to the die hards who've appreciated Merauder all these years. I think people will enjoy this tribute."
Century Media will share tracks from this special release, which is available now in Europe and the US, with you in weekly turns until the end of the year, so listen to GOD FORBID’s version of “Master Killer” at Century Media Myspace NOW!
God Forbid have finished the recordings for their highly anticipated follow-up to “IV: The Constitution Of Treason” (2005), which is expected to surface in February 2009.
The new album was produced by Eric Rachel (Atreyu, Red Chord) with Christian Olde Wolbers (Fear Factory, Threat Signal) handling all vocal tracking and Jens Bogren (Opeth, Amon Amarth, Soilwork, Katatonia, Symphony X) taking over mixing duties at Fascination Street Studios in Orebro, Sweden. In 2009 God Forbid shall triumphantly return with their most mature and diverse effort to date that will easily position them as of one the most innovative bands within the genre.
Also, don’t forget to check out the band’s stunning first official DVD “Beneath The Scars Of Glory And Progression”, which has been released earlier this year. A trailer can be watched here!

2007-10-29 | Darkane - new singer revealed | Following the departure of lead singer Andreas Sydow this past August, Darkane guitarist & founding member Christopher Malmström took some time to write in from Helsingborg, Sweden to announce the band’s new frontman:
“Darkane would like to welcome Jens Broman as our new vocalist! He’s recently been seen in the vocal spot in Construcdead and The Defaced (and will continue to sing in both bands). Jens grew up in Glumslöv, south of Helsingborg (a good friend of Björn Strid from Soilwork), but now lives in Stockholm. His live debut with us will take place in three weeks at the ProgPower Scandinavia festival in Copenhagen, Denmark on November 10th. We’ve been rehearsing hard lately and are very excited to work together with Jens. He has a huge vocal diversity and we are pretty sure that Darkane fans won´t be disappointed. We had our interests set on Jens at a very early stage and would like to thank all the people who showed their interest in joining Darkane as our vocalist. We wish you all the success in the future, and we’d also like to congratulate Peter [Wildoer, drummer] and [his longtime girlfriend] Erika for getting engaged a few weeks back.”
Last month, Peter Wildoer revealed that Darkane has “about nine songs ready to record” for their upcoming fifth studio album, despite the fact that the band’s Not Quite Studio suffered an extensive amount of damage due to flooding two months ago. Source: NuclearBlast |
2007-10-09 | Sonic Syndicate - first us tour! | Sweden’s hottest newcomers, Sonic Syndicate, will be making their US debut with a tour alongside Himsa, Decapitated and fellow countrymen Amon Amarth this November. Since the release of the band’s second opus, "Only Inhuman", the band has been taking Europe by storm with many festival appearances and a tour with Dark Tranquillity. Soon after the band finishes their current European tour with Soilwork and Caliban it’s off to the States to wreak even more metal havoc. Lead singer Richard Sjunnesson had this to say about the bands hectic schedule: "We are excited and really looking forward to finally getting over there to see the American fans. This is Sonic Syndicate’s very first tour on American soil and we are very happy to be doing this under the wings of the vile Vikings, Amon Amarth, who are of course countrymen of ours. I have personally followed them since the early 90s and touring with them makes me happier than words can express. It will of course also be a honor to share the stage with the brilliant metal acts Himsa and Decapitated. See you all soon!" Source: NuclearBlast |

Afterwards the band will be joining the Eastpak Antidote Tour with Soilwork, Caliban, and Sonic Syndicate. And, last but not least: "Finally it is time for us to visit Greece again! 2003-07-29 | Great News For Arch Enemy Fans! | Here's an official Michael Amott™ update:
South Korea: "First of all, we're proud to announce Arch Enemy will make their first ever appearance in Korea on Friday the 8th of August at The Busan International Rock Festival, on Daedepo Beach, South Korea. Arch Enemy are headlining. Other bands playing on the day are domestic Korean acts but also includes fellow Swedes Soilwork. This has been a long time coming. We were supposed to play in Korea a couple of years ago, but it didn’t happen, so it feels great that we are finally playing there now. We are very excited about going to this festival and exposing the Korean music fans to our brand of metal!"
USA mini-tour: Arch Enemy will be doing a mini-tour of the U.S. in August/ September with Hate Eternal, Evergrey and Black Dahlia Murder as support acts. "Yes, we can put your minds to rest, we can confirm those ugly rumours! We thought it would be a good idea to come over and play a few shows in the U.S. around the release date of Anthems Of Rebellion [scheduled for North American release on August 26th]! It’s a cool package that’s been put together for these dates… something for everyone! We can’t play more shows right now in the U.S., as we will be on the road with Nevermore in Europe… But we will definitely be coming back for more later in the year!"
The band extends a HUGE thanks to all the people who have been sending in their pictures. Their website's pictures section at http://www.archenemy.net/pictures has undergone a huge update. So huge it's MASSIVE. Keep sending in your pictures, but before you do, please read the "send-your-pictures-guidelines."
