2008-11-14ARSIS: European tour and new members announced!
There is a lot going on in the land of Arsis these days, states the band’s founding member/guitarist/lead vocalist Jim Malone. For starters, we will be heading overseas in a few weeks for our first European tour ever where we have the pleasure of sharing the stage with Morbid Angel, Kataklysm, Marduk, and Keep Of Kalessin. We are all so excited for this! Since the departure of Noah Martin from the band, we have been performing with a new bassist named Nick Cordle. I can not say enough good things about Nick; he is truly an amazing musician. Aside from being a great bassist, he fucking rips on guitar. He is without a doubt one of the best musicians I have ever had a chance to play with. We would also like to thank Shawn Priest for playing drums with us for the past four months and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. Starting with the European tour, we will be working with drummer David Kinkade, formerly of Malevolent Creation.

2007-11-13Warbringer complete recording process & US Tour with Exodus!
The buzz surrounding LA thrashers Warbringer is simply astounding following a slew of high-profile US shows alongside the legendary Exodus and overwhelmingly positive reactions to the group’s self-released EP. Upon signing a worldwide deal with Century Media Records, the quintet entered the studio with acclaimed producer Bill Metoyer, who helped shape legendary albums from the likes of Slayer, D.R.I. and Sacred Reich. This effort is shaping up to be one of the most vicious debuts to come along in years and is destined to add another glorious chapter to thrash metal’s illustrious history. John Kevill (vocals) states: "So far the recording's gone very well. Everything is now tracked, and mixing is currently in full swing. Everyone's pretty happy with how it’s shaping up, and we all feel it’s a huge step up for us. Working with Bill has been awesome. It’s been very laid back, and we've received a lot of good feedback and input from him. Counting bonus material and everything, we did a total of 14 tracks. The cover art is also looking pretty bad-ass. The whole thing will be done in a couple of weeks, and we can’t wait to unleash it upon the masses.” While Warbringer has built a rabid local fan base playing with others in the LA thrash revival scene, they’re set to join Exodus, Arsis and Goatwhore on their US tour in January. These young thrash warriors (4 out of the 5 aren’t even of legal drinking age) are prepared to bring their definitive brand of violent combat thrash to audiences worldwide. Never before has the evil, no-holds barred sound of Baloff-era Exodus, Slayer’s "Hell Awaits", and Kreator’s "Pleasure to Kill" been revived and revitalized for the 21st century in such a strikingly inspired and pure fashion. In February 2008 thrash will be back with a vengeance! Be sure to check out MySpace for all upcoming tour dates and to check out some older, demo tracks.

2007-08-31Arsis - news on the upcoming album
Guitarist/vocalist James Malone of Virginia's Arsis has issued the following update: "Despite the numerous headaches caused by our van's breakdown this summer, we spent time working on perfecting pre-production for our debut release for Nuclear Blast Records, tentatively titled 'We Are The Nightmare'. We will begin recording the album on September 3, 2007 at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts with Zeuss (who has worked with Shadows Fall and Hatebreed) handling the production. I feel that this will be the most exciting ARSIS album to date. We are now a full band and every member has contributed to the writing process for this album. While it is more varied than anything we have ever written, I feel the result is a much more focused product." Arsis drummer Darren Cesca added: "This is an album any fan of Arsis or heavy music in general should get excited about. We've really captured the band's sound and improved it in all aspects. It's dark, melodic, and very technical at times, but we wrote songs you can pump your fists to. I've definitely pushed my drumming very far for this record and I know the rest of the band will be pushing themselves as well. One thing's for sure: this is going to be one fun album to listen to. As soon as we finish recording, we plan on shooting a video for 'We Are the Nightmare' in October, then we’ll be hitting the road withEnslaved in November and Exodus in January. The album should be stores sometime in early 2008 and I am sure more touring will ensue after that. 2008 should be a busy year for us and we're looking forward to it!" All of the Arsis recordings (which include two demos, one EP, and two full-length albums) have won the band many rabid fans among the metal underground, the metal press, and metal musicians themselves. Their 2004 debut, "A Celebration of Guilt", was praised to hell and back by Revolver magazine as "the best in the genre since At The Gates' legendary swan song ['Slaughter of the Soul']."

2007-04-16Necrophagist Drummer Schedules Drum Clinics
Last week German death metal band Necrophagist announced the addition of world renowned drummer Marco Minnemann to their line-up. Minnemann will begin playing drums for Necrophagist on the band’s upcoming headlining North American tour, the ‘Summer Slaughter Tour’ featuring Necrophagist label-mates Cephalic Carnage as well as Decapitated, Ion Dissonance, Cattle Decapitation, Arsis and more. The ‘Summer Slaughter Tour’ will begin June 1st and is sponsored by Revolver Magazine, Ibanez Guitars, Tama Drums, Fixion Media and Jaxprints. Prior to the start of the ‘Summer Slaughter Tour’, Minnemann will be performing select Necrophagist songs at his upcoming drum clinics. A listing of clinic dates can be found below and a listing of Necrophagist tour dates can be found in the tour section on Relapse.com. Marco's reputation as a talented drummer is worldwide. After establishing a reputation in his home country, Germany, in the late 90’s he began instructing solo workshops. Highlights included the Frankfurt Music Fair, PASIC in Dallas, and a solo performance at the "Modern Drummer Festival" in Toronto, where Marco had the honor of being the first German drummer to display his talents there. This performance, in the eyes of professionals and music trade magazines, catapulted him into the Top Ten of the drumming world. Following Drumfest included the Australian TUDW fest and the Montreal Drumfest in Canada. Marco’s influences are quite diverse, and up to this point most of his work has included collaborations with many of Jazz and Funk’s leading musicians. Marco also co-produced and played instruments on Paddy Kellys (Kelly Family) solo CD which entered the charts in 2004 and played on the double platinum CD Nena feat Nena. Marco also performed and recorded with artists such as: Paul Gilbert, Nena, Udo Lindenberg, H-Blockx, Mike Keneally, FFW, Gianna Nannini, Garry Willis, The Kelly Family and many more. 2007-01-11Arsis - sign with Nuclear Blast!
When it comes to seminal death metal bands from North America, the East Coast alone can boast the likes of the genre's greatest staples such as Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, Death, Morbid Angel, and Nile. With West Virginia's legacy of being the only state formed as a direct result of the American Civil War, it's no wonder that Arsis have continued this tide of insurgence - albeit in the musical realm. The band, which derived its name from the musical phrase "arsis and thesis" meaning unstressed (up-) and stressed (down-) beats respectively, is righteously tinged with black & thrash metal influences but is completely dedicated to expanding the reaches of melodicism and technicality in the genre of death metal. Checking-in from their current tour with God Forbid, Mnemic, and Goatwhore, founding member/guitarist/bassist/lead vocalist and former Berklee College of Music student James Malone has this to say about the newly-inked worldwide collaboration with Nuclear Blast Records: "Since the conception of ARSIS, I hoped to see the band as a part of the Nuclear Blast roster. Four years later, this is now a reality. I expect great things this coming year; the band is now a four piece, solid tours are on the way, and we have a fantastic label behind us 100%. I am more excited now about the potential of the band than I have ever been." All of the ARSIS recordings (which include two demos, one EP, and two full-length albums) have won them many fans among the metal underground, the metal press, and metal musicians themselves. Their 2004 debut, A Celebration Of Guilt, was praised to hell and back by Revolver Magazine as "the best in the genre since At The Gates' legendary swan song [Slaughter Of The Soul]." Given their current momentum in support of their latest album, United In Regret, and with, as Malone states, "our most brutal release coming in 2008," ARSIS are well on their way to making their discography absolutely essential for any fan with an extreme music library.
