2010-06-29Nile: Quality Amstelveen Footage Available
Quality fan-filmed video footage of Nile's June 27, 2010 performance at P60 in Amstelveen, The Netherlands can be viewed at this location (courtesy of "letthedeathmetalflow"). A couple of the clips are available below. "Those Whom The Gods Detest", the latest album from NILE, sold 3,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 160 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD landed at position No. 3 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200. Produced and mixed by Neil Kernon, along with a drum-recording job by Erik Rutan, "Those Whom the Gods Detest" features the band's strongest production and perhaps its best material to date. The cover artwork was created by Michal "Xaay" Loranc, whom NILE guitarist/vocalist Karl Sanders had previously worked with on his second solo album, "Saurian Exorcisms".

2007-01-11Arsis - sign with Nuclear Blast!
When it comes to seminal death metal bands from North America, the East Coast alone can boast the likes of the genre's greatest staples such as Cannibal Corpse, Immolation, Death, Morbid Angel, and Nile. With West Virginia's legacy of being the only state formed as a direct result of the American Civil War, it's no wonder that Arsis have continued this tide of insurgence - albeit in the musical realm. The band, which derived its name from the musical phrase "arsis and thesis" meaning unstressed (up-) and stressed (down-) beats respectively, is righteously tinged with black & thrash metal influences but is completely dedicated to expanding the reaches of melodicism and technicality in the genre of death metal. Checking-in from their current tour with God Forbid, Mnemic, and Goatwhore, founding member/guitarist/bassist/lead vocalist and former Berklee College of Music student James Malone has this to say about the newly-inked worldwide collaboration with Nuclear Blast Records: "Since the conception of ARSIS, I hoped to see the band as a part of the Nuclear Blast roster. Four years later, this is now a reality. I expect great things this coming year; the band is now a four piece, solid tours are on the way, and we have a fantastic label behind us 100%. I am more excited now about the potential of the band than I have ever been." All of the ARSIS recordings (which include two demos, one EP, and two full-length albums) have won them many fans among the metal underground, the metal press, and metal musicians themselves. Their 2004 debut, A Celebration Of Guilt, was praised to hell and back by Revolver Magazine as "the best in the genre since At The Gates' legendary swan song [Slaughter Of The Soul]." Given their current momentum in support of their latest album, United In Regret, and with, as Malone states, "our most brutal release coming in 2008," ARSIS are well on their way to making their discography absolutely essential for any fan with an extreme music library.

2003-12-09Behemoth extend contract with label for two albums
Polish black/death metallers Behemoth have extended their contract with Olympic Recordings. The group have already commenced the songwriting process for their highly anticipated new album and will enter the studio in early spring with hopes for a late 2004 release. This has been a breakthrough year for Behemoth, who made their U.S. live debut at the New Jersey March Metal Meltdown festival, which served as the kickoff date for an extensive nationwide tour alongside Deicide and Amon Amarth. From there, they appeared on the first three dates of the now-infamous "Metal Gods" tour headlined by Halford and Testament, as well as the inaugural "Blackest of the Black" festivals (also featuring Danzig, Superjoint Ritual, Opeth, Nile and Lacuna Coil). Behemoth capped off the year supporting Six Feet Under on the "Un-Natural Born Killers" tour, and with the release of the limited-edition "Conjuration" EP, featuring one new song, two covers and several live tracks. Nergal (vocals/guitars) recently checked in with the following update: "At the moment we are taking a short break before we strike again in a few days. After doing 31 dates with Six Feet Under, Sinless and As I Lay Dying we decided to stay a few weeks in LA. to take care of some important stuff. We are proud to announce that we finally signed a new two-album deal with Olympic Recordings for North and South America. It gives us a lot of opportunities for the future and from what we've experienced so far, the label does its best to push the band really hard. Now we are focusing on rehearsing the new set for the three last shows this year with Exhumed and Rise and this time we're gonna play a longer set. There will be two shows in California and one in Mexico, and I'm sure it will be killer! See ya all there!!!" Upcoming Behemoth tour dates: Dec. 10 - Allen Theatre - Los Angeles, CA Dec. 11 - Showcase Theater - Corona, CA Dec. 13 - Voodoo House - Tijuana, MEX

2003-07-30Vader's "Blood" To Arrive Earlier Than Expected
Polish death metallers Vader will issue a new mini-CD, titled "Blood", on September 22 — a month earlier than the originally announced October 20 release date. Also included on the CD will be a few rare cuts from "Revelations" recording sessions: "As The Fallen Rise" (taken from Japanese version of "Revelations"), "Angel Of Death" (Japanese version of the album and EP released in Poland exclusively), "When Darkness Calls" (Polish EP version), "Son Of Fire" (European digi-pack version), and "Traveler" (Polish digi-pack version). As previously reported, the U.S. version of the CD will have a special low list price of $9.98 and will be available as a split release also featuring the "Reign Forever World" EP. The complete track listing for the EP is as follows: 01. Shape-Shifting 02. We Wait 03. Son Of Fire 04. As The Fallen Rise 05. Traveler 06. When Darkness Calls 07.
