| 2009-08-06 | Nevermore To Enter Studio This Week | Nevermore's Van Williams will record the drums for the band's new album, "The Obsidian Conspiracy", between August 7 and August 14 in the band's hometown of Seattle with producer (and Soilwork guitarist) Peter Wichers (who previously worked with Nevermore vocalist Warrel Dane on Dane's solo debut, "Praises to the War Machine"). The rest of the instruments will be tracked at Wichers' studio in North Carolina. Longtime friend and collaborator Andy Sneap (=vlin href=/vcat.phtml?action=va&singer=295>Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Exodus, Machine Head) will once again be handling mixing duties.
The follow-up to 2005's "This Godless Endeavor" is tentatively due in early 2010 via Century Media Records.
Commented Dane: "These songs are full of newfound rage, lyrically and musically. Jeff Loomis has come up with some amazing new riffs that will no doubt please old and new fans alike. Also, I think the combination of Peter and Andy will result in something very, very special."
Songtitles set to appear on the CD include "Emptiness Unobstructed" and "Without Morals".
Nevermore's "The Year Of The Voyager" DVD last year entered the German DVD chart at position No. 82.

| 2007-11-20 | Testament - Album title revealed! | San Francisco Bay Area Thrash metallers Testament have set "The Formation of Damnation" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in early 2008. The band is currently recording the drum tracks with producer Andy Sneap (Machine Head, Exodus) at Fantasy Studios in Berkeley, California. The drums are overtaken by drumlegend Pual Bostaph (ex-Slayer, Exodus), as former drummer Nick Barker (ex-Dimmu Borgir, Cradle Of Filth) had to step down from the job due to visa problems.

| 2007-11-13 | Warbringer complete recording process & US Tour with Exodus! | The buzz surrounding LA thrashers Warbringer is simply astounding following a slew of high-profile US shows alongside the legendary Exodus and overwhelmingly positive reactions to the group’s self-released EP. Upon signing a worldwide deal with Century Media Records, the quintet entered the studio with acclaimed producer Bill Metoyer, who helped shape legendary albums from the likes of Slayer, D.R.I. and Sacred Reich. This effort is shaping up to be one of the most vicious debuts to come along in years and is destined to add another glorious chapter to thrash metal’s illustrious history.
John Kevill (vocals) states: "So far the recording's gone very well. Everything is now tracked, and mixing is currently in full swing. Everyone's pretty happy with how it’s shaping up, and we all feel it’s a huge step up for us. Working with Bill has been awesome. It’s been very laid back, and we've received a lot of good feedback and input from him. Counting bonus material and everything, we did a total of 14 tracks. The cover art is also looking pretty bad-ass. The whole thing will be done in a couple of weeks, and we can’t wait to unleash it upon the masses.”
While Warbringer has built a rabid local fan base playing with others in the LA thrash revival scene, they’re set to join Exodus, Arsis and Goatwhore on their US tour in January. These young thrash warriors (4 out of the 5 aren’t even of legal drinking age) are prepared to bring their definitive brand of violent combat thrash to audiences worldwide.
Never before has the evil, no-holds barred sound of Baloff-era Exodus, Slayer’s "Hell Awaits", and Kreator’s "Pleasure to Kill" been revived and revitalized for the 21st century in such a strikingly inspired and pure fashion. In February 2008 thrash will be back with a vengeance!

| 2007-08-31 | Arsis - news on the upcoming album | Guitarist/vocalist James Malone of Virginia's Arsis has issued the following update:
"Despite the numerous headaches caused by our van's breakdown this summer, we spent time working on perfecting pre-production for our debut release for Nuclear Blast Records, tentatively titled 'We Are The Nightmare'. We will begin recording the album on September 3, 2007 at Planet Z Studios in Massachusetts with Zeuss (who has worked with Shadows Fall and Hatebreed) handling the production. I feel that this will be the most exciting ARSIS album to date. We are now a full band and every member has contributed to the writing process for this album. While it is more varied than anything we have ever written, I feel the result is a much more focused product."
Arsis drummer Darren Cesca added: "This is an album any fan of Arsis or heavy music in general should get excited about. We've really captured the band's sound and improved it in all aspects. It's dark, melodic, and very technical at times, but we wrote songs you can pump your fists to. I've definitely pushed my drumming very far for this record and I know the rest of the band will be pushing themselves as well. One thing's for sure: this is going to be one fun album to listen to. As soon as we finish recording, we plan on shooting a video for 'We Are the Nightmare' in October, then we’ll be hitting the road withEnslaved in November and Exodus in January. The album should be stores sometime in early 2008 and I am sure more touring will ensue after that. 2008 should be a busy year for us and we're looking forward to it!"
All of the Arsis recordings (which include two demos, one EP, and two full-length albums) have won the band many rabid fans among the metal underground, the metal press, and metal musicians themselves. Their 2004 debut, "A Celebration of Guilt", was praised to hell and back by Revolver magazine as "the best in the genre since At The Gates' legendary swan song ['Slaughter of the Soul']."

| 2007-05-31 | Exodus: upcoming album and tourdates! | Exodus guitarist Gary Holt has issued the following update:
"Just a quick word to let everyone know has been up! Rehearsing about seven hours a day right now, busting our asses as [producer] Mr. [Andy] Sneap (Arch Enemy, Kreator, Testament, Opeth) will arrive on June 3rd and into the studio we go. Eleven songs done as of now, as sick as fuck. Everyone always talks about how their next record is the next this or that, all I'm going to say is this next record is a crushing landmark in Exodus history. I am stoked. Truly. I'm not giving out the title (or titles) right now, so you'll have to wait and be patient! But man, this new shit is aggressive with a capital A! Thrash metal at its hardest."

Gary Holt will release his first-ever instructional DVD, A Lesson in Guitar Violence, through Zaentz.
Holt previously stated about the upcoming DVD, "I am planning on focusing on rhythm technique, some lead chops, and going over the correct way to play some of the Exodus riffs. I feel there are enough straight shred things out there, so I want to do something as bit differrent. And of course I will make it funny as hell!"
Zaentz Records is the new label formed by Steven Warner (group manager) and partner Jonnie Zaentz (son of Saul Zaentz, Fantasy Records co-founder). Zaentz is an independent artist-friendly upstart label that features an in-house, state-of-the-art recording facility.
Exodus recently announced the return of drummer Tom Hunting to the group's ranks. "It was always understood that when and if Tom was ever ready to resume his drumming duties for the band, his seat would be waiting," Holt said in a statement. "Paul [Bostaph] always knew this, and was the first to say it upon joining the band. Paul and Tom have always been good friends and we, as a band, cannot thank Paul enough for his services on 'Shovel Headed Kill Machine' and all the subsequent tours he did to support that album. We had a great time and kicked many asses along the way."
