2004-07-15 | Bjork reveals album details | Bjork has confirmed her fifth studio album, Medulla, will be released on August 30.
The 14-track album features Bjork singing over rhythms performed by voice artists, or beatboxers as they prefer to be known.
These include Japanese beat box artist Dokaka as well as Shlomo and former Roots member Rahzel.
According to Billboard, other guests include former Faith No More singer Mike Patton of the Fantomas, singer-songwriter Robert Wyatt on a track called Submarine, classical vocalist Gregory Purnhagen, Inuit throat singer Tagaq and the Icelandic and London Choirs.
The full track listing is: Pleasure Is All Mine, Show Me Forgiveness, Where Is the Line?, Vokuro, Oll Birtan, Who Is It (Carry My Joy on the Left, Carry My Pain on the Right), Submarine, Desired Constellation, Oceania, Sonnets/Unrealities XI, Piano II, Mouths Cradle, Wednesday (Midvikudags) and Triumph of a Heart.
Bjork is not expected to embark on a tour to support the album and so far has given no indication of performing any selected concerts.
Speaking to America's W magazine about the album, the Icelandic singer described it as "rootsy" adding: "I wanted the record to be like muscle, blood, flesh.
"We could be in a cave somewhere and one person would start singing, and another person would sing a beat and then the next person sing a melody, and you could just kind of be really happy in your cave." Source: Ananova |
