2012-10-19Lady Gaga to launch water brand
Lady GaGa is looking to expand her business empire by launching a drinking water brand, according to a U.S. report. The pop superstar, who recently released her first fragrance, "The Fame", is said to be putting the finishing touches on a new bottled water venture. Lady Gaga and her creative team are said to be keeping details of the project top secret, but are preparing to launch the new water brand with a multi-million pound advertising campaign, according to the New York Daily News. A source tells the publication, "Everyone at Gaga HQ is keeping very tight-lipped. There are plans being prepared for marketing strategies. We know that the water drink is due out in the near future. No one has seen prototypes of the bottle. "Gaga water is something that has been in the pipeline for a few months, and now things are gearing up to an announcement and high-profile launch." Gaga will be following the footsteps of 50 Cent with her water project - the rapper previously invested in Glaceau's Vitaminwater, which reportedly made him an estimated £62.5 million when the company was bought out by drinks giant Coca-Cola.

2011-01-2750 Cent triumphs in website war
Rapper 50 Cent is claiming to have triumphed in a long-running dispute with a hip-hop website after he accused the owners of using his image and content without permission. The hip-hop star filed a lawsuit against bosses at Worldstarhiphop.com back in 2009, and on Monday, he took to his Twitter.com page to tell fans he had forced the site to shut down. The website subsequently came back online, with the owner claiming the disruption was due to technical problems and not to do with 50 Cent. But the In Da Club hitmaker remains adamant he's winning his war against the website. In a series of posts on Twitter, he writes, "I don't know why people underestimate me. I just shut down Worldstar. For future advertising contact Thisis50.com suckers... I put Worldstar to bed, you don't believe try me (and) I will shut your s**t down... I predict 2 more websites will shut down this week. Take a guess who they are. I'm sick of the hate I'm to (sic) strong."

2010-07-1950 Cent to scrap euro dance album?
50 Cent is considering scrapping his upcoming album because he has grown tired of his new dance sound. The rapper embraced a new musical direction for Black Magic, due for release later this year, with many tracks inspired by the upbeat European nightclub hits which he discovered during a recent promotional tour of the continent. But 50 Cent has grown less fond of his work since returning to his native U.S. and is now considering ditching his dance album in favour of a more traditional rap record. He tells Rolling Stone Brazil, "I've written an album that's called Black Magic, but I am not sure it will be my next album. Since I've made it back to America after recording in the U.K. and different territories since I was on the road, I started writing different material that don't (sic) quite fit that concept. "Black Magic had a different style to it, a different vibe. I was playing with different song structures, music from different genres... I did some things that were a little dance inspired, the tempo was higher. Just playing with a lot of things. Since I got back, I've been writing things that don't fit that (concept)."

2008-07-0350 Cent won't war with Young Buck
50 Cent has spoken out about his relationship with former G-Unit member Young Buck. Fiddy removed Young Buck from the group after it emerged that he owes the In Da Club rapper a large amount of money for an unpaid tax bill. 50 told MTV: "Buck is a disappointment for me, I treated him like a younger brother. He's not an enemy now. He explained: "He's like a relative that decides to do something to you that you're uncomfortable with, so you don't bring him around you." Buck is still signed to G-Unit Records for three more albums, but 50 has said that he won’t let the incident affect business. 50 said: "He'll still get his fair shot at releasing his album. He just did a show and only 20 people showed up. If that's not an indication that what you're doing is a mistake, I don't know what is."

2008-04-21Keys gangsta comments upset Fiddy
50 Cent has hit back at Alicia Keys after the piano-playing RnB star apparently criticised gangsta rap in a magazine interview. Alicia was quoted in US magazine Blender as saying that, "Gangsta rap was a ploy to convince black people to kill each other", although she has since claimed her words were misrepresented. Fiddy, real name Curtis Jackson, told US television station CBS: "That statement changes my perception of Alicia Keys totally." He explained: "I fall into that 'label' as far as considering artists creating 'Gangsta' music.' If she don't like that, I don't like that clasical music s*** she be doing."

2007-11-2350 Cent praises touring Kanye
50 Cent has praised Kanye West for continuing to tour after his mother's sudden death. Fiddy put his chart rivalry with the Chicago rapper aside to say he thinks touring is the best thing for him. He told 4Music: "I hope that he can work his way through it... If you're active, you'll find reasons to smile, reasons to be happy. "Kanye's relationship with his mum had a lot more depth to it than a lot of people's. He was real close to his mum." Kanye is currently traveling around the UK as part of his Glow In The Dark Tour which hits Brighton tomorrow (November 24).

2007-10-23Eminem teams up with G-Unit
Eminem is set to perform on G-Unit's new album. 50 Cent has nearly finished the new record and is just waiting on Eminem to lay down his vocals on the last track. When asked how close the album is to finishing Fiddy told MTV: "We gotta work with Em, that's it. "We probably won't get his vocals until he's heard the full body of work and he's excited about it." Once Eminem has given the record the green light Fiddy will share the album with the rest of us. He explains: "Before my work (goes to the public), it had to pass the Eminem test."

2007-09-2650 Cent reveals nickname origin
50 Cent says his nickname was given to him by Sharon Osborne. The New York rapper was dubbed Fiddy by the X Factor judge at the 2004 Black Entertainment Television Awards. 50, real-name Curtis Jackson, told reporters: "My name was 50 Cent until Sharon Osbourne said 'Fiddy' at the BET Awards and then it changed." He added: "After that it was either/or depending on how people feel."

2007-09-25Diddy teams up with 50 and Jay-Z
P. Diddy has spoken about working with 50 Cent and Jay-Z. The heavyweight rappers have collaborated on a remix of Fiddy's track I Get Money known as the Forbes 1-2-3 Billion Dollar Remix. With that many egos in one room and the hip hop habit of dissing other rappers how did they manage to get on? Diddy told MTV: "Everybody put all the greasy, slick-talk to the side, and we all got in the studio and cooked up something real special for the people." It turns out they didn't slag each other off because they spend the whole track bigging themselves up. P Diddy explains: "The song ain't really taking shots at anybody to be honest. It's really just putting down our status in the game."

2007-09-2150 Cent returns to UK
50 Cent has announced a UK arena tour. The In Da Club rapper, who said he would retire if Kanye West beat him in the album charts (which he did), has put such plans on the shelf and will tour the country this winter. Following this week's album chart defeat (September 16), 50 cancelled his UK appearances, including Wednesday's MOBO awards (September 19), in what appeared to be the first signs of retirement. Fans will be pleased to hear 50, and his bruised ego, will now return to the UK for a seven date arena tour. The tour begins in Aberdeen on November 7.

2007-09-1950c trounced as Kanye's best
Lightning has struck twice for 50 Cent after he was destroyed in the US album charts by rapping rival Kanye West. Fiddy, real name Curtis Jackson, suffered a huge defeat in the UK album charts last Sunday (September 16) as his album Curtis was heavily outsold by Kanye's Graduation, and the same thing has happened across the Atlantic. According to first week sales figures from Nielsen SoundScan, Graduation sold 957,000 copies in the six days leading up to September 16, nearly 300,000 more than Curtis, which sold just 691,000. Speaking after the defeat, 50 refused to comment about whether he'd live up to his promise of retiring if he was beaten in the chart race, instead choosing to praise the big-selling battle, reports Gigwise. "I am very excited to have participated in the one of the biggest album release weeks in the last two years," said 50. It is usual for No 1 US albums to only sell around 100,000 copies, making this one of the biggest weeks in the recent history of the chart.

2007-09-1750c cancels UK shows
50 Cent has cancelled his UK performances including a performance at this Wednesday's MOBO Awards (September 19). 50 was due to play two dates in the UK this week, as part of a promotional tour of his new album Curtis, but has now pulled the shows unexpectedly. His label informed MTV news: "50 Cent is very sad to confirm that due to a last minute unforeseen and unanticipated change in his schedule, he will have to postpone his European Promotion Trip from September 18-25." The news comes after Curtis failed to top the UK album charts getting pipped to the post by rival Kanye West and Graduation. As previously reported on Orange World, 50 declared he would quit as a solo artist if West beat him to the No 1 spot. Could this be the start of the retirement process or just an exercise in saving face in the wake of defeat?

2007-09-1450c and Kanye up for BET Awards
50 Cent and Kanye West have been nominated in the Black Entertainment Television Hip Hop Awards. Already going head to head in the album charts, heavyweights Fiddy and Kanye will now battle it out in the categories of Best Hip Hop Video and Track Of The Year at the BET Awards on October 17. Fiddy's I Get Money will be pitched against West's Can't Tell Me Nothing, and on the video front, 50's I Get Money aims to topple West's Stronger. Kanye is also up for gongs in the Best Live Performance and Lyricist of the Year and MVP (Most Valuable Player) categories. T.I. is the man of the moment with the BETs having earned himself nine nominations this year alone. Aired on American cable network ET/PT, the channel has also teamed up with MTV Base and BBC 1Xtra to recognise the best British artists on the urban music scene with Kano up for Best International Hip Hop Act Of The Year.

2007-09-13Eminem's album future
Eminem has said he is "in limbo" about whether he will put out another record. The elusive MC called up New York's hip hop radio station Hot 97 on Wednesday (September 12) to congratulate 50 Cent on the release of his album Curtis, but revealed he was "in limbo" and "debating" about when-and-if he would put out his next album. MTV reports the Real Slim Shady rapper told host Angie Martinez: "I'm always working, I'm always in the studio. It feels good right now, the energy of the label." Referring to his on-off marriage to ex-wife Kimberley Scott, Eminem, real name Marshall Mathers added: "I don't wanna go back to the negative stuff... Going through some personal things, coming out of those personal things, it feels good."

2007-08-0150 Cent to judge YouTube rap competition
50 Cent will judge a rapping competition for video sharing website YouTube. The competition, entitled YouTube OnTheRise Rap Edition wants aspiring rappers to upload music videos showing off their skills with a chance to win $10,000 (£5,000) of recording equipment and get their track produced by 50's G-Unit crew. In a clip on the video-sharing site 50 says: "If you have skills, determination, pizzazz, and you're really ready, you can win all you need, right here right now." Fiddy will be joined by fellow MCs Common and Polow Da Don as they select 20 the finalists that site users will vote on to decide who wins the grand prize. The Outta Control rapper isn't the first to talent spot on the site. Earlier this year Justin Timberlake signed up Esmee Denters to his label after she became one of the most subscribed video makers on the site. The competition starts August 8 but is only open to US residents.

2007-05-29Fiddy set for drinks windfall
50 Cent is set for a bumper pile of cash after a company he invested in was sold to The Coca-Cola Company for $4.1 billion (£2 bn) on Friday (May 25). Fiddy set for drinks windfall Fiddy invested in Glaceau, a US soft drinks firm, in 2004. Sources now claim the In Da Club rapper could be in line for a windfall of up to $400 million (£200 m), according to AllHipHop. East Coast rapper 50, real-name Curtis Jackson, has also had to delay the release of his new LP, Curtis. His third album will now be released in September. The New York rhyme-machine said: "My fans worldwide deserve to receive my album at the same time as my fans here in the US. Taking that into consideration moving the album to September was a necessary course of action."

2004-05-1450 Cent may face charges
50 Cent may face criminal charges following the fight that broke out during his surprise performance at a Massachusetts club. The rapper leapt into the crowd after he was hit on the head by a water bottle during his set at a club in Springfield. A representative for the district attorney in Hampden County told The Boston Herald that the rapper will face allegations of criminal conduct. Three women were reportedly injured in the ensuring brawl after 50 Cent jumped into the crowd. 2003-07-2950 Cent's G-Unit to release debut album
50 Cent says his G-Unit crew will release their debut album at the beginning of November. The self-titled record will feature Tony Yayo, Lloyd Banks, Young Buck and 50, with Eminem (Eminem) and Dr Dre also contributing, reports NME.com. The rapper is also already recording the follow-up to his debut solo album, "Get Rich or Die Tryin", and aims to release it early next year. "February or early March," he said, and when asked about producers, he added, "Dre and Em - absolutely." 50 also spoke about the impact his mentors, Eminem and Dr Dre, have had on his approach to the music industry, saying: "The standards that they set have enhanced me as an artist. "We came up with different concepts for the record - we had so many ideas - it's still street, but to be one way is not entertaining."
