2008-07-22Bloc Party and Sex Pistols in race rumble
Kele Okereke has claimed that he was the victim of an "unprovoked racial attack" by Sex Pistols frontman John Lydon and his entourage. Bloc Party frontman Kele said he was left with severe facial bruising following a fight that broke out backstage at Summercase festival in Barcelona on Saturday (July 19). According to NME, Lydon reacted in an "intimidating and aggressive" manner after Kele asked him whether Public Image Ltd, Lydon’s post-Pistols band, could ever reform. In a statement issued to British police, Okereke claimed that Lydon’s entourage reacted with a racist tirade that included the statement, “Your problem is your black attitude.” The resulting fight was apparently stooped by Foals singer Yannis Philippakis and Kaiser Chiefs singer Ricky Wilson. Okereke said in a statement: "It's not an issue of the physical assault, even though it was an unprovoked attack. It is the fact that race was brought into the matter so readily." He added: "I am disappointed that someone I held with such high regard turns out to be such a bigot."

2007-12-06Kaisers headline Isle of Wight
Kaiser Chiefs are to headline the first night of the Isle of Wight festival. Reformed bands Police and the Sex Pistols have already been confirmed for the event, but now Leeds' biggest export are to grab the final slot. The Ruby tunesmiths will top the bill on Friday June 13, 2008, the first of the festivals three days. The news comes as next summer's festival headline rumours have begun hotting up in earnest, especially as Radiohead have one spare night during Glastonbury weekend.
