Американская брутальная команда из Буффало "Cannibal Corpse" была создана в 1988 году на развалинах двух групп - "Tirant Sun" и "Beyond Death". В ее состав вошли такие личности как вокалист Крис Барнс, гитаристы Боб Расэй и Джек Оуэн, басист Алекс Вебстер и ударник Пол Мазуркевич. Взяв направление на стиль "Slayer" и "Death", банда записала сокрушительную демку, сразу же привлекшую внимание лейбла Metal Blade и вскоре "Каннибалы" заключили с ним контракт аж на семь альбомов...
