2008-10-28 | Dido says farewell to late father |
Dido has revealed that a song on her forthcoming album, Safe Trip Home, is a tribute to her late father, who recently passed away from lupus – a condition that has previously affected Michael Jackson and Seal..
"Grafton Street" recalls Dido’s memories of singing traditional Irish song ‘Raglan Road’ to her father whilst on his deathbed.
Her farewell contained the line: “On Grafton Street in November, we tripped lightly along the ledge of a deep ravine where can be seen the worst of passions pledged.”
She told The Sun: “Him dying was huge. I was so close to him. I got to be with him and I was glad about that.
“He was around to hear some of [Safe Trip Home]. It’s gutting I can’t play him the whole album." Source: Ananova |

2004-06-01 | Dido denies she's quitting the UK for US |
Dido has denied reports that she's set to quit the UK to live in California in a bid to concentrate on the American market.
The singer told fans at her website that reports she's house hunting in Los Angeles are untrue.
She said, "No, it's not true. I got a bit of a surprise when I read that in the papers."
Meanwhile, Dido has confessed she fell off stage during a show in San Diego on her current US tour.
She says it was her most embarrassing moment on tour so far.
The 32-year-old admitted, "I'm clumsy. I went back one step too far and went flying. I just got up and laughed and carried on going."
The tour is in support of her latest album Life For Rent which has sold more than 1.7 million copies in the US alone since its release last September. Source: Ananova |
2004-05-24 | Dido to quit UK for US |
Dido is to quit Britain to live in the US.
Dido, real name Florian Cloud de Bounevialle, is house-hunting in Beverley Hills after meeting top music executives earlier this year reports the Daily Star.
The 32-year-old said: "It's a really fertile writing place. Sometimes you have to be lonely to write, it really helps."
"It can also be helpful if you've got a lot of stuff inspiring you and you're felling a bit alienated, weird and lonely."
Dido is likely to uproot from her Ј2 million north London home straight after she headlines this year's V Festivals in Chelmsford and Stafford in August.
A close friend said: "Apart from her family and close friends the thing she will be devastated to leave most is Arsenal FC, she's a huge fan.
"But that said, she is extremely ambitious and she knows that LA is where there are a lot of very, very talented musicians and businessmen who will ensure her career goes through the roof." Source: Ananova |
