2004-04-30 | 'The End' In Sight For The Cure | The Cure's first album in four years will be a self-titled affair, frontman Robert Smith announced last night (April 28) in New York at the first playback of the upcoming release. "The Cure" will arrive June 29 on producer Ross Robinson's I Am imprint via Geffen. The group will perform first single "The End of the World" tomorrow on NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and headline the Coachella festival on Sunday in Indio, Calif.
"I think it's the best thing we've ever done," Smith said proudly. "The album is called 'The Cure.' If you don't like it, then you don't like us." Smith stood silently in the corner of the room by himself while the 14-track album was played for about 40 journalists and guests, occasionally taking notes in preparation for approving the final mix and running order. 2003-08-05 | Back To Tricky's? | Tricky will be offering fans an insight into the workings of a unique musical mind when he releases a compilation of favourites in the "Back To Mine" series.
The Bristolian trip-hop innovator has frequently confounded expectations by sighting the likes of Kate Bush as influences on his redefinition of hip-hop with the mid-nineties classic, "Maxinquaye".
He describes his "Back To Mine" compilation as, "a mixture of stuff I grew up on, and what I'm listening to now.
"I used to make loads of compilation tapes and I haven't had the time for years, so this has been a real pleasure."
The "Back To Mine" compilation series has previously mined the record collections of stars including Danny Tenaglia, Groove Armada, Faithless, MJ Cole, Orbital, Underworld and, most recently, New Order.
The full track listing of Tricky's selection is as follows:
The Cure - "Lullaby"
Little Kings - "How We Ride"
Eric B & Rakim - "My Melody"
The Beat - "Mirror In The Bathroom"
Doctor John - "Loop Guru"
Rodagan and Tricka - "Believe This"
