2010-03-16 | Kataklysm: Completes Songwriting Process For New Album |
Canadian extreme metalers Kataklysm have completed the songwriting process for their new album, "Heaven's Venom", for a tentative fall release via Nuclear Blast Records.
Commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono: "It's done after two years of hard work! We really made sure we had every element covered, going over all the riffs and arrangements hundreds of times to make it the best it could be.
"Our fans have given us so much over the years and it was time for us, without any label pressure or time limit, to give back with the album they have been waiting for. We think we've accomplished something special, but we are not going to say this is the heaviest or best Kataklysm and all that stuff. The fans will decide that. I just know the mission is accomplished when all of us have big cheesy smiles on our faces!
"We're going to take a little break now and hit the road with Kreator, which should be a lot of fun! As soon as we are back, we will give the album one last check-up and then start recording this beast. Should be wrapped up and mixed by this summer.
"Next year it will be the band's 20th anniversary so you can bet that we will deliver the goods. We promise! Lots of cool surprises ahead."
Tentative songtitles set to appear on "Heaven's Venom" include "Soul Made of Shrapnel", "Blind Savior", "Hail the Renegade" and "Push the Venom". Source: DarkSide.ru |

2008-11-14 | ARSIS: European tour and new members announced! | There is a lot going on in the land of Arsis these days, states the band’s founding member/guitarist/lead vocalist Jim Malone. For starters, we will be heading overseas in a few weeks for our first European tour ever where we have the pleasure of sharing the stage with Morbid Angel, Kataklysm, Marduk, and Keep Of Kalessin. We are all so excited for this! Since the departure of Noah Martin from the band, we have been performing with a new bassist named Nick Cordle. I can not say enough good things about Nick; he is truly an amazing musician. Aside from being a great bassist, he fucking rips on guitar. He is without a doubt one of the best musicians I have ever had a chance to play with. We would also like to thank Shawn Priest for playing drums with us for the past four months and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. Starting with the European tour, we will be working with drummer David Kinkade, formerly of Malevolent Creation. Source: NuclearBlast |

2007-05-24 | Unearth part ways with Mike Justain! | Unearth have officially parted ways with drummer Mike Justian: "Last night marked the end of the line for Mike Justian with Unearth. There are many reasons why we decided it was time to move on without him, but we are not in the business of airing dirty laundry. We will say that we grew apart as individuals and as musicians and the split will be best for both the band and Mike.
In true Unearth fashion, we will continue on without skipping a beat. We are pleased and honored to say that Gene Hoglan of Strapping Young Lad is filling in for the rest of our tour with Dimmu Borgir, DevilDriver and Kataklysm. He will take the stage for the first time with us tonight in Vancouver, BC. Gene is an unreal musician and has learned a set in extremely short notice. We can not thank him enough for lending his skills to our band for this tour.
Mike is an amazing drummer and will surely turn up in another band soon. We traveled the world with him, shared some of the best experiences of our lives and can call him a brother forever. It was just time for both parties to split, plain and simple. We wish him the best of luck with all of his future endeavors." Source: MetalBlade |

"Kataklysm has just returned to US soil after completing the band’s most successful headliner tour in Europe!!! Drawing more people and selling venues accross Europe than never before. The band wishes to thank Quo Vadis, Fear My Thoughts and Neaera for being cool dudes and all for all the good times, cheers!!!" Sadly, the band had to postpone their scheduled Australian tour and their "Road to Devastation II" tour which also included a few dates with Unleashed and was scheduled for April/ Mai. Maurizio Lacono explains: "I know that a lot of our fans were looking forward to seeing us in Australia, in the UK, Scandinavia and all the places we haven’t hit for this record yet, but believe me that none are more disappointed than us!.....But they WILL be rescheduled and we are thinking of September or during the fall. The reason behind the postponed dates: The devil himself called and made us an offer we couldn’t refuse!.." Source: NuclearBlast |

2003-07-18 | Cryptopsy To Get "Really Intense" On Next Album | Canadian technical death metallers Cryptopsy are currently hard at work writing new material for their upcoming fifth studio album — the group's first with new vocalist Martin Lacroix (ex-SPASME). The as-yet-untitled effort will be recorded at Wild Studio in St-Zenon, Quebec, Canada with producer Pierre Rémillard (Kataklysm, Gorguts, Krisiun) and is tentatively set for an early 2004 release through Century Media Records.
Guitarist Alex Auburn recently checked in with the following report on the group's songwriting process:
"We just finished the seventh song for the album. The new stuff is really intense so far, well-balanced between all instruments leaving enough room for each instrument to have its space when we record. We will be doing one or two more songs and that's it. All of the songs are very different because everybody in the band wrote a lot. Studio time is booked for October and November. We are also set to headline the first huge metal festival in Australia on August 22nd alongside Marduk, Doro and Sodom among others. No other shows outside of Australia are currently scheduled due to time constraints and us having to continue writing." Source: BlabberMouth |

The band will enter Studio Victor in Montreal in November for tracking and will mix the album at Wildsound Studio in St-Zenon (Quebec) with guitarist/producer J-F Dagenais (Malevolent Creation, Misery Index...).
The Hyperblasters are also happy to announce that they have renewed their contract with Nuclear Blast Records for 3 more albums, following the release of the new album "Serenity in Fire". Guitarist J-F Dagenais comments: "Nuclear Blast discovered Kataklysm. They built this band, they also believed in us when it mattered the most. The last 5 years with them have been great and we look forward to a bright future ahead. In my opinion, they are the best label out there at the moment. They've given us a great new deal and we're very happy to stay home!"
Kataklysm have also landed the theme song for a feature horror film by SVBI Films in conjunction with Texas FX (Snake Eyes, The Living Dead II, The Arrival) for the movie "Female Flesh Eaters". Plans for a videoclip for the track are in talks.
