2007-09-21 | Akon bigs up legends | Senegalese rapper Akon has revealed his plans for three massive collaborations with Madonna, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson.
Speaking to MTV, the Locked Up star didn't give away too many details about each of the projects but still managed to get completely carried away when hyping up each collaboration.
On teaming-up with Jacko, Akon said: "We about to shake the world up, man.
"Just to be in the same room (with him), I felt everything I wanted to accomplish in life has been achieved."
From working with the King of Pop, he then raved about his upcoming studio time with the Queen of Pop, stating that the pair will "shock the world" before the year is out.
And last but not least, Akon bigged up the much-maligned Whitney Houston, who he is helping along the comeback trail by collaborating with her on a couple of tracks.
"She's the truth. She's undeniable.... This album is going be one of the biggest albums she decided to put out," he boasted.
With so much work on his plate, it doesn't look the rapper has any time to work on his own new material, estimating that it'll be 18 months before the world gets a new Akon album. Source: Ananova |

2004-12-27 | Madonna's 'bad behaviour' at Oscars exposed | Madonna burst into a tirade of bad language during rehearsals for her 1991 Oscar appearance, a new book reveals.
This is despite the fact a group of children were standing just yards away, it claims.
The singer is alleged to have become angry when told that a technician had fallen asleep. He was supposed to be controlling a microphone which was to appear out of nowhere.
She launched into "an astonishing profane tirade despite the fact that the area below the stage was also occupied by a group of children," writes Premiere journalist Steve Pond in his upcoming book The Big Show: High Times and Dirty Dealings at the Academy Awards.
Pond adds: "Furious, she grabbed (the bearer of the bad news) around the neck and lifted him bodily off the ground, not relinquishing her grip until the trapdoor opened and she began to rise."
It is also claimed that Madonna became angry when her performance was delayed because a female camera operator was seriously injured after falling off the stage into the orchestra pit.
When told of the reason for the delay, the pop star is said to have asked: "But, she's just lying there. Can't we just do this?"
Madonna was rehearsing her song Sooner or Later, from her Dick Tracy movie.
The book also reveals how Whitney Houston began singing The Way We Were during rehearsals for the 2000 awards while pianist Burt Bacharach was playing Over the Rainbow. Source: Ananova |
2004-05-25 | Whitney to go on world tour? | Whitney Houston is reportedly to go on a world tour with Natalie Cole and Dionne Warwick.
Cole told the Access Hollywood TV show that Houston was on the road to recovery from recent drug problems after beginning treatment at a rehabilitation centre in Munich.
MTV says Cole said the tour starts in Germany in July.
"We're going to have a great, great time. It's going to be fun." she said.
She said she decided to do the tour because of her close relationship with Houston.
"I've always thought of Whitney as my little sister," she said.
"I've known her since she was 19, and I feel really good that when they asked who she would want to be on the show with her, she said me."
So far the only confirmed dates are in Germany. Source: Ananova |
2004-05-06 | Bobby Brown To Stand Trial For Abuse | R&B singer Bobby Brown has been ordered to stand trial on charges he hit his wife, fellow singer Whitney Houston. Brown and Houston exchanged smiles today (May 5) in Atlanta during a five-minute court hearing, where Judge Barry Zimmerman ruled there was enough evidence to continue with the case against Brown.
The singer was ordered to turn himself in to authorities July 10 or 11 for fingerprinting, when he would be released on a $2,000 bond. The judge also warned Brown again having "violent contact" with Houston. The couple left the courtroom walking arm-in-arm and made no comment to reporters and television cameras waiting outside.
Simple battery is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. Normally on a first offense in domestic-violence cases, the charge is dismissed if the defendant undergoes counseling. Brown's attorney, Maurice Bennett, said the judge's decision was expected.
No date was set for when the case will be heard in state court. "It could be as much as a year down the road," said Lanny Lipsky, senior court clerk.
Houston called police Dec. 7 to report that Brown threatened to beat her "and then struck the left side of her face with an open right hand," a Fulton County police report said.
Brown addressed the report's specifics in an April interview with Dateline NBC, saying, "I got big hands, man. I would hurt her, you know? It would be more than just a little cut on the lip." Brown further described the incident as a "little spat." He said the two were playfully "slap boxing" and Houston took one of his jabs a "little serious."
Brown has been incarcerated twice this year. In February, he spent a month in jail for multiple probation violations before being released a month early for a March child-support hearing in Massachusetts. There, he spent another night in jail before paying a former lover more than $60,000 in back child-support payments.
On Tuesday, Brown fired his previous attorney, Vincent Dimmock, who hadn't received any payments from the artist since he began representing him in February. "I sincerely wish him the best," Dimmock said.
Houston's publicist did not return a call seeking comment. Brown and Houston have been married since 1992 and have a 10-year-old daughter, Bobbi Kristina. Source: BillBoard |
